Former New Zealand lock Robin Brooke has been hired by the All Blacks as a specialist line-out coach.
Brooke, capped 62 times, will train the team’s forwards at their training camp ahead of the Tri-Nations match against Australia in Auckland.
Despite winning all six of their Tests this season, the Kiwi’s restart tactics have been open to scrutiny.
Head coach Graham Henry said: "He’s just here for this camp and maybe occasionally, when the occasion arrives, we may ask for his expertise again. At this stage, it’s just with this camp.
"He’s looked at our line-out over the last two Test matches and has come with some suggestions of how we can improve.
"It wasn’t too long ago that he was playing for the All Blacks. He played 62 Tests and he’s got a lot of knowledge about line-outs, so we got him in to help us out and it’s been very positive.
"There’s not going to be a quick fix. It’s something we’re going to have to work on over the next 15-18 months. But I think we’ve made some progress."
Brooke, who was also called in by Henry to help the All Blacks in 2004, has had previous involvement with the national Under-21 and Under-19 teams.
