Former New Zealand star Pat Walsh died on Saturday at the age of 71 after a lengthy battle with illness.

Walsh made his debut in 1955, becoming the second youngest All Black international in the process at the age of 19.

He went on to play 27 games for his country, before becoming a selector between 1969 and 1971.
