England head coach Brian Ashton has paid tribute to Lawrence Dallaglio, who has retired from international rugby.

Ashton said: "Lawrence has made a massive and influential contribution to his country and to London Wasps and I wish him all the best for the rest of this season and the future."

Rugby Football Union president Bob Taylor added: "The fact that Lawrence is the second most-capped England player of all-time alongside Rory Underwood shows how big a part he has played in the team since 1995.

"He is a huge rugby icon both on and off the field and on behalf of the Rugby Football Union I would like to thank him for his part in English rugby history."
