McGeechan adds to Wasps staff

Lions head coach Ian McGeechan has welcomed a New Zealander on to his coaching staff at London Wasps.

McGeechan, who announced his key Lions management team on Wednesday, has added Waikato coach Tony Hanks to the Adams Park outfit.

Hanks took over at Waikato after former Wasp Warren Gatland left for Wales having previously spent three year’s as the province’s assistant coach.

The 37-year-old will join the Guinness Premiership Champions on November 1 and will remain with the club until March of next year.

Hanks will also work alongside another member of the 2009 Lions coaching staff in current Wasps head coach Sean Edwards.
