Legends meet again

Some of the greatest players ever to wear the famous British & Irish Lions jersey are appearing at the next two HSBC Lions Legends events in Cardiff and Dublin.

Gareth Edwards, Mike Teague and Willie John McBride will be discussing their greatest players of all time and their stories of historic Lions tours at the Cardiff event on Friday February 13.

The three legends will be joined by other great Lions players of years gone by on the eve of the Wales versus England Six Nations clash.

The next event will be in Dublin on Thursday February 26, followed by events in Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, London and Newport.

Talking to lionsrugby.com, legendary No8 Mike Teague, who was the man of the series in Australia in 1989, said: “Everyone knows how special the Lions are. Every four years it is said, time after time, that the tours stand out as ‘the’ sporting event of the year.

“When you go on a tour or listen first hand to tales from players, you start to appreciate what is so special about the British & Irish Lions.

“These events have never been staged before and I’m proud to be associated with them alongside the likes of Willie John (McBride) and Gareth (Edwards).”
