Murray linked to Scarlets

2009 Lions prop Euan Murray has been linked with a move to the Scarlets.

The Scotland forward left Aviva Premiership outfit Northampton Saints on the eve of their 23-15 Heineken Cup triumph over Cardiff Blues last weekend.

But now the injury-ravaged Scarlets are eyeing up the front-row powerhouse to solve their front-row crisis with three props currently sidelined with long term injuries.

Wales tight-head Rhys Thomas was already a long-term absentee, with a fractured leg, when fellow tight-heads Deacon Manu and Peter Edwards bizarrely fractured their arms in the same match.

30-year-old Murray would be an ideal solution to Scarlets problems and their head coach Nigel Davies has admitted they are looking to bring in an experience campaigner.

"We're looking to bring in someone and will look at all options," said Davies.

"Once people realise you're looking for someone, agents are very quick to get in touch. "We've spoke to lots of agents.

"We have a lot of players on development pathways and it's important that we continue to maintain that. We're looking for someone with recognised quality to come in and support the development."

Murray joined Saints on the back of an impressive showing with Scotland during the 2007 World Cup and went on to make 57 appearances.

But the 30-year old has left by "mutual consent" after he was limited to just four appearances off the bench this season behind Brian Mujati.
