BOD will play on

Lions legend Brian O’Driscoll could yet play his part in another Lions adventure in Australia next year.

The 33-year-old has already made a hat-trick of tours with Britain and Ireland’s elite but he hasn’t ruled out making a fourth and final trip as a player in 16 months time.

O’Driscoll is currently out of action for the majority of the season following shoulder surgery, with critics questioning whether he will be able to make a successful comeback ahead of Ireland’s summer tour.

The 2001, 2005 and 2009 Lion has been written off in some quarters, with his detractors suggesting he will call time on his stellar career before the Lions head Down Under.

But the man himself says he has no set date for his retirement and, with the Lions tour now very much on the horizon, he could yet grace the famous red jersey again some 12 years after his first appearance in Australia.

"I wouldn't put any limitations on where I want to go and what I want to achieve," O'Driscoll told Today FM's The Last Word.

"I can definitely see myself playing hopefully at some stage this year, definitely next year and then you just have to listen to how you're feeling, both from a body and mind point of view.

"If you're in decline, I'd like to go out on a high, but if you still have a lot to offer – I certainly feel I'll be around for a little time yet.

"I'm not putting a final date on when I'm finishing because the body will give up before the mind will."
