Jones: Nothing compares with Lions high

British & Irish Lions prop Adam Jones admits replicating the highs he reached during this summer’s historic tour will take some doing.

Jones, who started all three Tests against the Qantas Wallabies, will soon return to domestic action with the Ospreys before Wales embark on an autumn campaign against South Africa, Argentina, Tonga and Australia.

No less than ten Welshmen started the deciding Test in Sydney, while Justin Tipuric also came on as a replacement, but Jones admits there are no guarantees Wales will reproduce the Lions’ form.

“It’s always tough after the Lions tour and there’ll obviously be a massive comedown from the tour, especially as we won the series,” he told Wales Online.

“We’ve all come back from the Lions very confident and on a high. It was huge, something I can live off for the rest of my life.

“I am so pleased to have done it and it’s something for me and my family to look back on but there’s a few more things I want to complete before I hang up my boots.

“We could have a terrible run during the autumn but we’ll back ourselves against any team if we play the way we can.

“South Africa first up is always going to be a challenge but, if we can replicate the form of the Lions, we will go well.

“We have gone pretty close to beating South Africa and New Zealand on previous occasions and it would be massive to beat those guys.”
