Farrell itching to take on All Blacks again

British & Irish Lions fly-half Owen Farrell admits he can’t wait to face New Zealand again this summer after England just fell short of a second straight victory over the All Blacks last Saturday.

Farrell’s kicking performance at Twickenham was flawless – he landed 17 points as England fought back from a 17-3 deficit to lead 22-20, only for New Zealand to romp back and take the match 30-22.

England have only once before beaten New Zealand in consecutive matches but Farrell and co were within touching distance before Julian Savea scored his second try of the match.

Farrell, who appeared off the bench in the tourists’ third Test against Australia this summer, will hope to travel to New Zealand with England this summer in what could well be a glimpse of another Lions tour in 2017.

And Farrell admits he’s desperate to face the Kiwis again.

“I can’t wait, I wish we were playing them again this week,” he said.

“I know it was a positive performance but it was also tough to take. I thought the effort of the lads was unbelievable – the fight they showed and the commitment was everything you could ask for.

“We were constantly putting pressure on them and knocking at the door, and that showed in the amount of penalties we got.”
