North: Wales must step up for Australia clash

George North admits Wales’ British & Irish Lions contingent must prove they can beat the Qantas Wallabies again when the two nations go head-to-head at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

North enjoyed a starring role this summer – dotting down twice in three Tests against Australia – as the Lions secured their first series victory in 16 years.

However, his nation’s recent record over the Wallabies leaves a lot to be desired, Wales having lost their last eight matches against Australia.

And memories of a glorious Lions Tour will linger with North on Saturday as he aims to make more history over the Wallabies this year.

"Obviously it will be at the back of some of the boys' mind that were there," North said.

"But for us now it's back to Wales and focus on Saturday.

"We've worked hard the past few weeks and had one of our best autumn series for a while. We've got to back it up now.

"[The] past few years we've come very close and it's our time to step up."
