Lion Barritt ready for European challenge

British & Irish Lion Brad Barritt is relishing the prospect of testing himself against European heavyweights Toulouse, describing the Heineken Cup clash as one of Saracens’ biggest games of the season.

Barritt, who was called up to join the British & Irish Lions squad in June to act as midfield cover against Australia, recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines following ankle surgery.

He started last weekend as current Premiership leaders Saracens defeated Gloucester 29-8 and is in line to feature again against Toulouse on Sunday.

Both teams are tied on 15 points at the summit of Pool 3, and the 27-year-old admits the game against the four-time European Cup winners could define their season.

"It's a huge game – probably, in perspective of our season, the biggest one yet,” he told Sky Sports.

"It will put you in a commanding spot in the pool. They don't often lose at home, so there's a huge amount to play for. But that's why we play rugby, to have these tests and challenges.

"The Heineken Cup success they've had over the past decade just speaks volumes to what they have achieved.

"There are a lot of guys who have been involved in that success, so the culture and the way they conduct themselves in the Heineken Cup is the way we want to be as a squad."
