Roberts sings North’s praises

Jamie Roberts believes fellow British & Irish Lion George North is a hit wherever he plays ahead of a potential move to outside centre this weekend.

With Jonathan Davies, Ashley Beck, Owen Williams and Scott Williams all missing, centre partners for Roberts are thin on the ground as Wales face France this weekend.

Head coach Warren Gatland moved North to the centres after Scott Williams limped off against Ireland last time out.

And while North’s impact for the Lions last summer came from out wide – running in two Test tries and four in total – Roberts has no doubt of his teammate’s versatility.

“George is a fantastic player,” Roberts told Wales Online. “His physical attributes are incredible and he is a 17st Shane Williams. His turn of pace is amazing and agility is frightening.

“He is a world-class talent and we just need to make sure we get him in space and get the ball in his hands. The scary thing is he is only 21.”
