Jones vows to fight on with Ospreys

British & Irish Lion Alun Wyn Jones is refusing to give up hope of extending his season with club side Ospreys as they remain in contention for the Pro 12 playoffs.

The lock was an integral part of the Lions’ success in Australia last summer – making his mark in all three Tests – and since arriving back has been an ever-present for Ospreys once more.

The 28-year-old old took to the field for the clash with Newport Gwent Dragons at the Millennium Stadium on Sunday to help his side win by 20-10.

Trailing by four points with two games to go in the Pro 12, Jones admits the lack of bonus point could prove costly – but will not give up without a fight.

"With an overview of the particularly for us this year, we've slipped out of top four contention but we're still pushing and have a chance if some fixtures go our way,” he said.

"We played so well at times and got so little back for it. We're rueing the opportunities we missed as we just squandered them really.

"No disrespect to the Dragons but we were surprised that we squandered our opportunities but we got the win at the end.

"We're not really content with the win but it's a win all the same and that's what we needed with where we're at."
