Lion Twelvetrees targets Gloucester revival

British & Irish Lion Billy Twelvetrees will settle for nothing less than a winning end to the season after club side Gloucester lost to London Wasps at Twickenham last weekend.

The centre returned to Kingsholm after his first-ever Lions Tour last summer, making two appearances as the tourists took away a first series victory in 16 years.

And while Twelvetrees has enjoyed a fine season with England – in the starting XV for their six victories so far – the 25-year-old admits Gloucester’s domestic form has been found wanting.

The Cherry & Whites find themselves down in ninth in the Premiership but with two games left to go, Twelvetrees is backing his side to deliver a response.

“We have to approach it (the final two games) in exactly the same way,” he said. “We will go at it 100 per cent. There’s possibly ten points from the next two games and we will give it our absolute all.

“We really backed ourselves to get a result (against Wasps), the conditions suited us and we showed a lot of ambition but execution let us down which seems to be the story of our season.”
