Tuilagi could wing it against All Blacks

British & Irish Lion Manu Tuilagi could be set for a place on England’s wing against New Zealand this weekend, according to the Red Rose’s attack coach Mike Catt.

The 23-year-old started England’s 20-15 defeat to the All Blacks, who will host the visiting Lions tour in 2017, last Saturday at inside centre but a change of position has been mooted.

But with fellow 2013 Lion Brad Barritt now available after flying into New Zealand following club commitments, there is an abundance of options for England head coach Stuart Lancaster.

And Catt says Tuilagi, who came off the bench to help the Lions secure a historic series victory over Australia last summer, could be switched out wide for the second Test in Dunedin.

“If it's right to put Manu on the wing we'll put him on the wing, but we've got a couple of training sessions over the next couple of days to make a decision, so nothing's set in stone, there are a lot of permutations,” said Catt.

"We've got six, seven centres to be put into two, so the players understand where we're at, and they've got to front up in these training sessions.”
