Ton up for Jones in South Africa

Two-time British & Irish Lion Adam Jones will make his 100th appearance for Wales on Saturday having been named in the starting line-up for their first Test against South Africa.

Jones, who played in all three Lions Tests in Australia in 2013, will pack down with Ken Owens and fellow Lion Gethin Jenkins in the front row, the latter winning his record 106th cap.

Lions coach Warren Gatland names ten of his Australian touring party in the starting line-up for the match in Durban.

Alex Cuthbert, Jonathan Davies, Jamie Roberts, George North and Mike Phillips line up in the backs, while Jones and Jenkins are joined by Alun Wyn Jones, Dan Lydiate and Taulupe Faletau in the pack.

Gatland said: “A Test series in South Africa is always a tough challenge, but we are excited by it and looking forward to getting out there.

“A lot of this side have experienced playing over here before in big games and this week is no different. It's going to be a brilliant occasion, the atmosphere will be electric and hopefully it will be a great Test match.

“As coaches we have been impressed in training over the last couple of weeks and there were a couple of tough calls to make but it's great guys like Gareth [Davies] and Matthew [Morgan] have a chance after putting their hands up.”
