Wade eyes World Cup spot after injury return

British & Irish Lion Christian Wade is eyeing a spot on England’s World Cup squad after injury forced him out of much of last season.

The London Wasps winger, who appeared once during the Lions tour of Australia after being call up injury cover, picked up a complicated foot problem  in December which kept him out of action for the rest of the campaign.

However, Wade is now back to full fitness and looking to earn his way back into the England fold when the new season comes around.

“I have definitely got the World Cup in my mind as a goal, but it is one of those goals where, first and foremost, I have got to get my place cemented in the Wasps side,” said Wade.

“I haven’t played for six months, so I need to earn my place back and put in some good performances here for my Club. Hopefully, I can start the season well and then I will see where I go from there.

"There are Autumn Internationals to challenge for too, so there is plenty of rugby to be played before the World Cup comes around and I am taking it step by step.

“Either way, we are in for a treat next season and there really is no better time to get involved with rugby. All the boys are looking forward to the new season and seeing the supporters again after a summer break.”
