Youngs looking to make up for lost time

British & Irish Lion Tom Youngs has returned from a shoulder injury and has his sights set on a World Cup berth with England this year.

The hooker missed out on the autumn internationals with the injury sustained while on club duty with Leicester Tigers at the start of the season.

But the 27-year-old, who appeared in all three Tests for the victorious Lions against Australia in 2013, is now desperate to make up for lost time in 2015.

“It’s always frustrating to miss any sort of rugby, let alone England games,” he said.

“But that is part of being a professional sportsman. You are going to miss out on stuff. I feel like I am getting back into it now.

“Dylan (Hartley) and Rob (Webber) both played well in the autumn. I have got a job on my hands to get back in there. Those two are above me and I have got to get above them.

“I want to be a part of the Six Nations having missed out in the autumn. The World Cup is a carrot, but there is a long way to go before then.”
