Davies looking for repeat Wales performance

British & Irish Lions centre Jonathan Davies is calling for more of the same from Wales when they travel to Rome this weekend.

Wales ended Ireland’s run of ten consecutive victories with a 23-16 success at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday.

A whole host of British & Irish Lions starred in Cardiff with Jonathan Sexton kicking 11 of Ireland’s points, only for five Leigh Halfpenny penalties plus a Dan Biggar drop goal and Scott Williams try to lead Wales to victory.

But it was Wales’ defensive attitude that really impressed Davies, with the centre wanting a repeat performance when they take on Italy on Saturday.

"There were times when it was backs to the wall but our character showed through," said the Clermont Auvergne man.

"We showed desperation and a willing to go that extra yard. Shaun (Edwards, defence coach) made a big point about every inch counting and that period of defence showed that."
