Bowe dreaming of third Lions Tour in 2017

British & Irish Lions winger Tommy Bowe insists he is already dreaming of the chance to compete in his third consecutive Tour when the Lions travel to New Zealand in 2017.

British & Irish Lions winger Tommy Bowe insists he is already dreaming of the chance to compete in his third consecutive Tour when the Lions travel to New Zealand in 2017.

The 31-year-old played in all three Tests of the Lions’ narrow series defeat to South Africa in 2009 before returning to make two Test appearances as the Lions secured an historic 2-1 victory over Australia in 2013.

On top of that triumph, Bowe believes the experience of forging bonds between players from four nations makes touring with the Lions one of the most special experiences for any sportsperson.

And with a tough test against the All Blacks looming, the Ireland international is determined to put himself in contention for selection once again.

“To be on the 2017 Lions Tour would be the dream,” Bowe told BBC Radio 5Live. “I would love to go and travel again with the Lions.

“It is just one of the best experiences you could ever be a part of as a rugby player, as any sportsperson.

“It really is one of the few, if only, sporting tours that goes on at a professional level where four countries come together and try to get to know each other in a very short space of time and play one of the top teams in the world.

“It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone and getting to know people that you normally wouldn’t speak to.

“Certainly in the last two tours I’ve loved every minute of them and to be part of another one in New Zealand, which would be a pretty tough place to go, it would be great to be a part of that too.”
