Madigan can’t wait for Sexton’s Leinster return

British & Irish Lions fly-half Jonathan Sexton is returning to Leinster next season – and fellow No.10 Ian Madigan insists he’ll be rolling out the red carpet for his arrival.

Sexton left Leinster for Racing Metro in 2013, the same summer in which he helped guide the Lions to a series success Down Under.

But he is set for a hero’s homecoming next season after deciding to leave France and rejoin his boyhood club.

Madigan has mixed time between fly-half and the centres during his two-year exile but he views Sexton as someone to learn from, rather than a threat to his jersey.

“It’s great to have Jonny back,” said Madigan. “He is a home-grown player, he is probably the best out-half in Europe at the moment – up there with the likes of Dan Biggar and George Ford.

“For a club like Leinster to get someone like him back is brilliant and for me it’s just about fitting in the side, really.

“Hopefully I’ll find a spot in the centre and be lucky enough to play alongside him in the big games.”
