Two-time British & Irish Lion Adam Jones fulfilled a lifelong dream by donning the Barbarians jersey and claims the experience was even more memorable than he could have imagined.

The 34-year-old, who represented the Lions in five Tests on the 2009 and 2013 tours, played for the Barbarians in recent matches against Ireland and England.

The Baa Baas dramatically beat Ireland 22-21 at Thomond Park before losing 73-12 to England at Twickenham.

And while the prop enjoying teaming up with former opponents, he admits the size of the defeat at Rugby HQ does rankle slightly.

“It was obviously not great to lose in the manner we did against England, but the whole experience was brilliant,” Jones told Sports Mole.

“It's something that you hear a lot about and something that I haven't done before, but it certainly lived up to all expectations.

“It was great to play with some different players, too, the likes of George North, Brad Thorn and Joe Rokocoko – players who I have played against over the years and now lined up with.”

And in a rugby career full of highs, the former Wales international insists wearing the famous Baa Baas strip ranks right up there.

“I was obviously lucky enough to play for Wales and the Lions so I have certainly ticked a full set off now. It was also special because of the whole history of the Barbarians,” added Jones.

“You see how historical the jersey is; the fact that those from New Zealand travel 24 hours to be a part of it, showing just how special it is.”
