Ballot to allocate Test tickets for fans in New Zealand

With expectation building ahead of The British & Irish Lions Tour of New Zealand in 2017, the NZRU has announced that an online ballot will be held to allocate tickets for the three Test matches for fans in New Zealand.

The Lions 10-match Tour schedule includes three Tests and matches against all of the Super Rugby franchises.

Tickets will go on sale on October 28. But in order to deal with the extraordinary demand for Test tickets in particular, an online ballot for New Zealand residents will open on September 5.

For Lions fans travelling from Europe, Test match tickets are available with official Lions Supporter Tours packagesMatch tickets are not available to purchase independently of a package if you are resident in Europe.

The Tour will begin in Whangarei on June 3, 2017 and finishes with the third Test at Eden Park in Auckland on July 8.

And with anticipation approaching fever pitch – All Blacks chief executive Steve Tew cannot wait for the historic series.

“This will be an amazing six weeks of rugby enriched by the unique atmosphere that only a New Zealand-Lions series creates,” he said.

“We are talking about a team that is made up of the best players from England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland.  The Lions won their last series in Australia in 2013 and we know that they’ll be incredibly strong.”
