The Coaching Team Announcement will be followed by the announcement of staff for technical and operational roles in early January, while the squad itself will be named on 19 April 2017.

British & Irish Lions Tour Manager John Spencer said: “It’s another important step on the road to New Zealand – the success of any British & Irish Lions Tour depends on having a quality coaching group and we are very confident that the people we will name on Wednesday can help deliver a Test series win.”

Spencer, a member of the victorious 1971 Tour to New Zealand, believes the Coaching Team is ideally suited to the task, adding: “A 10-match Tour of New Zealand requires toughness as well as technical knowledge and we firmly believe that the characters we have identified as the men to bring on board are exactly what is needed for the upcoming Tour.”

The event will be covered across British & Irish Lions website and Social Media channels, with a live stream on The British & Irish Lions Facebook page (1200 GMT).

“We’re delighted fans will be able to follow the event live and also very happy to be doing the announcement at Carton House in Ireland, the training base for one of the Home Nations teams."
