Jeremy Guscott will forever be remembered for kicking the winning drop goal in the second Test against the Springboks, which secured a series victory on the 1997 Tour to South Africa.
That was the last of three Tours for Guscott, after he made his Lions debut as an injury replacement in Australia in 1989, where he also made a series-winning contribution in the second and third tests against the Wallabies.
He started all three Tests during the 1993 tour to New Zealand as well but was unable to prevent an All Blacks 2-1 series victory.
Former England coach Sir Clive Woodward called Guscott the ‘Prince of Centres’ and he made 65 England appearances between 1989 and 1999, scoring a hat-trick in his debut against Romania.
He spent his entire club career with Bath, for whom he made 266 appearances and scored 710 points.
