Former England captain Phil Vickery toured twice with The British & Irish Lions, featuring in five Test matches.
The rampaging tighthead prop had suffered shoulder and neck injuries in the years leading up to the 2001 Tour to Australia, but was fit enough to travel Down Under with Graham Henry's squad.
Vickery started all three Test matches, but the Lions lost the series 2-1.
He was a cornerstone of England’s triumph in Sydney in the 2003 Rugby World Cup, but a back injury saw him miss the Lions Tour to New Zealand in 2005, despite having initially been pencilled in for inclusion by Clive Woodward.
He captained England in the 2007 Rugby World Cup as the Red Rose reached the final and was included in the Lions squad to tour South Africa in 2009.
After playing in the series opener against the Springboks he missed the second Test, but returned alongside Andrew Sheridan and Matthew Rees in the front row as the Lions closed out the series with victory in Johannesburg.
