Jac Morgan will embark on his maiden British & Irish Lions Tour when he travels to Australia this summer.

The Welshman has been a mainstay across the back row for his country since his international debut in 2022 and now steps up to the Lions for the 2025 Tour.

The 25-year-old quickly showed leadership qualities despite his youth, co-captaining his country at the 2023 Rugby World Cup before taking on the responsibility alone in 2025.

Morgan has also impressed with his performances too, as he has led by example for both Wales and Ospreys with his all-action showings in the back row.

“I don’t tend to speak too much, I hopefully try and leave everything out on the pitch,” he said. “You lean on a lot of other leaders in the team.”

It has been a remarkable journey for Morgan, who spent two years working as an apprentice mechanical engineer after he was released from the Scarlets academy.

He balanced his apprenticeship with playing for Aberavon in the Welsh top flight before rejoining Scarlets in 2019.

“Aberavon played a massive role in my development and they gave me the platform in semi-pro rugby to step up into senior rugby and I really enjoyed my time there,” said Morgan.

“They helped develop my game, grow as a player and to get used to the demands of senior rugby.”

He captained Wales Under-20 during the curtailed 2020 Under-20 Six Nations Championship, before progressing into the senior squad, making his debut against Scotland in the 2022 Six Nations.

His performances had already earned him a move to the Ospreys by that stage, for whom he quickly became a key player after arriving aged 21.

Morgan grew up in Brynamman and first started playing rugby at Cwmtwrch RFC. The 25-year-old is a native Welsh speaker.
