The British & Irish Lions have launched their first-ever online charity auction with a number of incredible items available to bid on.

The auction aims to raise much-needed funds for The British & Irish Lions Trust, the official charity of The British & Irish Lions.

The full profit from this auction will go to the Lions Trust, which exists to connect with, nurture and support all Lions players in need, alongside furthering the spirit, values and ethos of the Lions through rugby clubs and communities across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The Lions have opened their official archive for the first time and have received some incredible donations. The auction includes items from the current Lions squad, Lions legends, the four home unions, Six Nations and SA Rugby.

There will be several rounds to the auction. Round 1 ran from Saturday 3 July (the date of the first match of the 2021 Tour to South Africa) until Monday 26 July and included many unique items from a personal video call with Sam Warburton (Lion #800), to a match-worn jersey from Richard Hill (Lion #663); and squad signed shirts from the Springboks and Wallabies, to a rare jersey and programme from the 1955, New Year’s Eve, Scotland-Ireland v England-Wales match donated by the family of the late Michael Dunne (Lion #273).

Round 2 is live now and includes a golf day with Lawrence Dallaglio (Lion #661) and Jeremy Guscott (Lion #628); squad signed Lions, All Blacks, Wales and Scotland jerseys; a bumper-filled 1993 kit bag from Gavin Hastings (Lion #606); a personal programme collection from Ieuan Evans (Lion #616); Test jerseys signed by members of the current 2021 squad; and much more.

The Lions will be using a platform called Charity Stars, the largest European charity auction, and are hoping to raise both funds and awareness for the Trust.
