Dan Biggar did not break into the Test side on his first British & Irish Lions Tour but the Wales fly half still had a serious influence on the 2017 trip to New Zealand.

The stand-off kicked 35 points across his five appearances and marshalled the midweek backline in impressive style to victory over the Chiefs and a thrilling draw with the Hurricanes.

He also came off the bench when the Lions downed the Maori All Blacks.

His first match against Blues – the Lions’ second game of the Tour – ended prematurely due to injury but he bounced back with an impressive showing against the Highlanders.

Biggar’s stand-out moment in Dunedin came when he collected a CJ Stander offload before stepping inside Waisake Naholo and releasing Jonathan Joseph for a Lions try.

And the Welshman’s form continued to get better and better as he kicked three conversions and two penalties in a morale-boosting win against the Chiefs.

The fly half was as reliable as ever again in Wellington a week later with 16 points in a 31-31 draw with the defending Super Rugby champions, the Hurricanes.

The Tour wasn’t all rugby though as Biggar proved during his visit to the Mayfair Retirement Village with Leigh Halfpenny and Peter O’Mahony, handing out gifts and meeting the locals.
