Rhys Webb played a major role as Warren Gatland’s men secured a thrilling 1-1 series draw with the All Blacks on what was his first Tour with the British & Irish Lions.

The scrum-half featured in two of the three Test matches, replacing Ireland’s Conor Murray on both occasions at Eden Park and scoring a late try in the 30-15 first Test defeat.

It proved to be a Tour highlight for the Welshman as he snaked through to score his first Lions try from close range and giving the large travelling support reason to cheer in Auckland.

The score would give the men in red momentum heading into the second Test at Wellington – where the Lions secured a famous 24-21 win to force a decider.

In the final Test the fleet-footed Webb again made a significant impact off the bench as he won the final penalty to help the British & Irish Lions secure a memorable 15-15 draw late on to tie the series.

The No.9 also started two Tour matches, to the Blues and the Highlanders, where Webb was able to demonstrate his speed at the base and pin-point passing and earn his Test call-up.
