Every four years, the Lions – the best of the best selected from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales – travel to the southern hemisphere to take on Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa on landmark tours.The British & Irish Lions has announced the initial details of a historic inaugural Lions Women’s Tour with the best women’s players from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales travelling to New Zealand to play the current world champions in 2027.The Lions foundations are strong, built upon 130 years of history and tradition with tours taking place regularly since 1888. ROLE SUMMARY
The Lions are seeking a bright and motivated solicitor to join our in-house legal and governance team and support the Director of Legal & Governance. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced, high-profile environment, working alongside industry leaders and playing a key role in the success of this iconic rugby brand.
- Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2025.
- Salary: £60- 70K (UK) or €60- 70K (Ireland) depending on experience.
- Location: Flexible within Ireland or the UK. If located in the UK, the successful candidate will mainly work from home with travel to London and Dublin as required. The Lions HQ is based in Dublin and if the successful candidate is based in Ireland then they may work from the office on a hybrid basis.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Provide clear, concise and commercially focused legal advice specific to the Lions’ operations, supporting areas such as:
- Sponsorship and partnership agreements
- Player contracts and image rights
- Ticketing and merchandising agreements
- Digital transformation projects
- Broadcasting rights and media deals
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of contracts using commercial pragmatism.
- Conduct legal research on relevant issues and emerging areas of law, including intellectual property rights surrounding the Lions brand, and data privacy regulations.
- Contribute to the Lions’ digital transformation strategy by providing assistance with data protection and digital projects.
- Assist with managing and mitigating legal risks associated with touring, event management, and brand partnerships.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant sports regulations, licensing requirements, and national laws across touring destinations.
- Work collaboratively with other members of the Lions team and external stakeholders on Lions-related projects.
- Attend key meetings and briefings to stay up-to-date on developments that may impact the Lions, the sport, and the wider commercial landscape.
Key Skills and Competencies:
Qualifications and Expertise
- Circa 2-5 years Post Qualification Experience in a UK or Ireland jurisdiction with demonstrable experience in commercial law (both contract drafting and negotiation). Applications from candidates with more or less experience will be considered, however the salary banding is fixed.
- Excellent communication, research and writing skills.
- Hands-on experience in data protection and digital projects work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Impeccable attention to detail and accuracy.
- Must have excellent Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
