Jack Nowell helped himself to a double, with Jared Payne also crossing, while a penalty try and 12 points from Dan Biggar set up a 34-6 victory.

The Lions had made the quicker start, with two early penalties by Biggar. Stephen Donald responded with three points for the Chiefs.

Nowell then popped up for his first try, sniping from close range after making ground initially down the right.

Biggar’s conversion stretched the lead to 13-3, although Donald responded with his second penalty just before half-time.

The Lions built on that lead in the second half, adding a penalty try after their pack forced the Chiefs to bring down a maul illegally.

With the Chiefs down to 14, the Lions were able to cut loose, scoring a magnificent counter-attacking score for Nowell’s second.

Payne finished the job as he popped up in support of Liam Williams after his break, with Biggar converting both to seal the win.
