Tandy praises Lydiate’s impact

British & Irish Lion Dan Lydiate has been the main driving force for table-topping Ospreys, according to head coach Steve Tandy.

Since arriving back in Wales from French side Racing Metro, flanker Lydiate has run out four times for the Ospreys.

The latest of those came this weekend as the 27-year-old, who featured in all three Lions Tests against Australia in 2013, led Ospreys to the top of the table with a 22-11 victory over his former side Newport Gwent Dragons.

And Tandy admits he is delighted at the speed with which Lydiate has found his feet back in Wales.

"He is growing,” Tandy said. “I thought he was really good [against Newport Gwent Dragons]. There were moments around him, particularly his defence.

“His ball-carrying is coming and he's a great character. Dan has been driving standards and I think he's getting better.

“We are delighted with him and it's great to have him here."
