Wallabies add Reds

Robbie Deans has added eight Queensland Reds to his Australia training squad.

The Reds failed in their attempt to defend their Super Rugby crown after losing 30-17 to the Sharks on Saturday.

But their players are now available to the Wallabies and Quade Cooper, Liam Gill, Radike Samo, Jake Schatz, Rob Simmons, James Slipper and Ben Tapuai have all been called up.

The selected players will take part in a three-day training camp, which kicks-off tomorrow.

Another boot-camp will take place in Sydney at the beginning of August, ahead of the inaugural Rugby Championship.

Schatz and Gill are both uncapped but are former skippers of the Wallabies’ under-20s side. Hanson is also uncapped but was a member of last season’s training squad.

James Horwill and James O’Connor are among the absentees from the squad due to injury, while Will Genia has been handed a much-needed break.
