It has been a swift rise for Scotland loosehead Allan Dell who joined The British & Irish Lions 2017 Tour to New Zealand direct from Scotland’s summer tour.
Dell made his sole appearance against the Chiefs at the FMG Stadium Waikato in Hamilton in the Lions impressive 34-6 victory four days before the first Test against the All Blacks.
The prop came off the bench with Joe Marler in the sin bin and won a penalty at his first scrum wearing the famous red jersey.
Dell only made his international debut in November of 2016 against Australia but since then has gone from strength to strength.
And in the summer of 2017 – in Gregor Townsend’s first Tour in charge of Scotland – Dell was key as they downed Italy in Singapore before a famous victory over Australia in Sydney that prompted Warren Gatland and the Lions to come calling.
