Allan Lewis made 18 appearances for the Lions as part of the squad for the 1966 Tour to Australia and New Zealand, scoring a try in the 14-8 defeat to Southland in June of that year.

The scrum-half’s playing career saw him turn out for Abertillery and Newport while winning six caps for Wales between 1966 and 1967. Upon retirement, Lewis turned to coaching and was head coach at Llanelli, Celtic Warriors, Moseley and Newport.

He also coached Wales’ Under-15, Under-19 and Under-21 sides and was assistant head coach to Kevin Bowring.

In 2011 Lewis was appointed national academy coaching manager for the Welsh Rugby Union with the responsibility of overseeing the development of age grade coaching programmes from 16 up to the senior side.
