Welshman Andy Powell was named in the Lions squad for the 2009 Tour to South Africa and featured in five matches.
Shoulder injuries disrupted his domestic campaigns in 2006 and 2007, but he was back to his best in 2008 for Cardiff Blues and was primarily named in the Lions squad by Ian McGeechan to challenge Jamie Heaslip for the No.8 shirt.
He made four starts in all, though was not named in the 22-man squads for the three Test matches against the Springboks.
He crossed codes in 2013 to play rugby league for a season at Wigan Warriors, before returning to Wales with Newport Gwent Dragons.
Though versatile across the back row, Powell began life playing at centre for Brecon Rugby Club aged 10.
