Dunfermline-born Angus Black made his Scotland debut in 1947 but only won three caps in the three intervening years before his Lions call-up.

The scrum-half, who also played for Edinburgh University, cemented himself as a starter in time for the Home Nations Championship in 1950 and helped mastermind a win at BT Murrayfield over England.

His performances caught the attention of the Lions and he toured New Zealand and Australia in the famous jersey later that summer.

Playing ten games in total, his appearances included two Test outings against the Kiwis – partnering Lions legend Jack Kyle in the half-backs for the 9-9 draw in Dunedin.
