A strong, muscular ball-carrier, Ben Te’o is a cultured centre who can mix it both physically and with ball in hand.
The rugby league convert played a vital role in the 2017 RBS 6 Nations, scoring a match-winning try against France while using his considerable power to change the game from the bench when called upon.
Te’o spent seven seasons in rugby league – playing for established sides such as West Tigers, Brisbane Broncos and South Sydney Rabbitohs in Australia.
While there, Te’o featured in all three games of the 2013 State of Origin Series for Queensland and started as South Sydney Rabbitohs won the 2014 NRL Grand Final in his final game in league.
But Te’o had dreams of rugby union and switched codes to join Irish side Leinster in 2014.
Te’o spent two seasons in Dublin, bowing out after helping Leinster to a Guinness PRO12 final and demonstrating his value as a powerful threat with ball in hand in midfield.
In 2016 he moved across the Irish Sea to join Aviva Premiership side Worcester Warriors for this season.
England boss Eddie Jones wasted no time in selecting Te’o for their three-match series in Australia in 2016 although he did not feature in the 3-0 whitewash.
He did not have to wait long for his debut though, coming off the bench against South Africa last November.
He made three appearances that autumn as England continued to win Test after Test, making his inclusion in Jones’ 2017 RBS 6 Nations squad inevitable.
His first try came against France, before a cameo a week later against Wales was instrumental in helping England come from behind late on to snatch a vital victory in Cardiff.
Te’o was handed his first international start against Italy at Twickenham and made further appearances against both Scotland and Ireland as England won the Championship for the second year in a row.
