Bill Patterson scored an impressive eight tries on his only Lions Tour to Australia and New Zealand in 1959.
The centre scored two each against West Coast, Malborough, Manawatu/Horowhenua and Eastern Canada and played in the first Test defeat to New Zealand.
Born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Patterson did not make his England debut for another two years after touring with the Lions.
He made just two appearances for his country, losing against South Africa at Twickenham in January 1961 before beating Scotland in March of the same year.
