Bob Taylor combined playing rugby with teaching - and had to seek permission from his school, Wellingborough Grammar, before he could travel with the Lions in 1968.
Though the Lions succumbed to a 3-0 defeat in South Africa, Taylor played an impressive role and lined up for all four Tests - once as a No.8 and three times as a flanker.
As such Taylor racked up the minutes on Tour and played a gruelling 14 games in total over the span of two months.
He had first appeared for England in 1966 and in a five-year span, played 19 times for his country, and maintained an active role within rugby upon retirement.
Taylor has not only coached Northampton but has served as both honorary secretary and president at the club. He was also appointed president of the RFU for a one-year term in 2007.
