Winger Bruce Hay made 22 Lions appearances during a four-year Lions career that spanned two tours, but earned just two Test caps.
The Scotland international made his Lions debut against Wairarapa/Bush in the opening fixture of the 1977 Tour and played a further ten times that year, scoring five tries in the process, but failed to break his way into the Test XV.
Three years later he again played the Tour’s opening fixture, beating Eastern Province 28-16, and went on to play in the final two Tests of the trip.
Hay scored a try on his Test debut in a narrow 12-10 loss, but did enough to start the final Test, which the Lions won 17-13.
Hay has the unusual record for a winger of having scored a Test try for the Lions having never managed to do so for his country.
