Injury curtailed Cian Healy's first Lions Tour - to Australia in 2013 - and since then it has become a frustratingly familiar story for the loosehead prop.

The Irishman arrived on the tour to Australia as one of the stand-out props in world rugby, having helped guide Leinster to three European Cup titles in the last four years.

But his hopes of nailing down the Lions No.1 jersey were over early in the tour when, having come off the bench against the Barbarians in Hong Kong, he sustained ankle ligament damage in the first half of their victory over the Western Force.

Since then a combination of neck and knee problems have hindered Healy's progress - although he did appear for the men in green in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and in their 2014 and 2015 back-to-back Championship titles under Joe Schmidt.
