Wales prop Clifton ‘Cliff’ Davies toured New Zealand and Australia with the Lions in 1950 and made 12 appearances in all.
Despite starting all four Tests for Wales that year as they won the Grand Slam – on Tour he only managed to crack the Test side on one occasion against the All Blacks.
But he scored two tries over his 12 appearances on Tour – against Auckland and against New South Wales Country in Australia.
Overall Davies made 16 appearances for Wales and was a stalwart of the great Cardiff side that beat Australia. He also played for the Barbarians but died aged only 47 in 1967.
