If Barry John and Phil Bennett cemented their place in history as the great Welsh fly-halves of the 1970s, Cliff Morgan was their natural predecessor nearly two decades earlier.
And before he had even donned the famous Lions jersey in South Africa in 1955, Morgan was showing the world his capabilities, strutting his way to a Grand Slam for Wales in 1952, earning a victory over New Zealand a year later – still the last time a Welsh side has managed the feat.
The outside-half stormed his way to the 1955 Tour, scoring in his first match against Western Transvaal and crossing twice when facing North-East Districts.
It was to get better still for Morgan, scoring a vital try on Test debut in the thrilling 23-22 win at Ellis Park, going on to play all four Tests in the tied series.
