Despite winning just three Ireland caps due to John O'Driscoll, Fergus Slattery and Willie Duggan being in their prime, flanker Colm Tucker has a Lions Test victory to his name.
The Irish flanker featured in six Tour games, with a single try against South African Country, before he was rewarded with a Test cap alongside O’Driscoll and Jeff Squire as the Lions fell to a 12-10 defeat in Port Elizabeth.
But despite the 3-0 scoreline, Tucker and the Lions roared back and restored some pride in Pretoria with a 17-13 victory in the final Test.
Tucker was Shannon RFC’s first Lion and after his playing career ended in the late 1980s he became a selector and manager at the club and was named president in 1999.
