A part of the tough 1983 tour to New Zealand, centre David Irwin featured in three of the four Lions Tests, a year after helping Ireland take the Championship and Triple Crown titles.
And despite not getting on the scoresheet in the Test matches, Irwin had a remarkable run on the Lions Tour, scoring in five consecutive matches against provincial opposition having started 11 games on the trip.
The centre would go on to play for Ireland for a further seven years, winning 25 caps for his country, while his time at club side Ulster continued beyond his playing career as he became medical co-ordinator with the province.
