David Powell was picked for the Lions 1966 Tour to Australia and New Zealand, although he did not feature in any of the Test matches.
Nicknamed “Piggy” after sharing a room with Denzil Williams, nicknamed “Porky”, the prop spent 15 years at Northampton Saints and captained them in four campaigns.
He burst onto the scene in 1965, and won his first England cap against Wales soon after.
His international career only brought 11 caps, but his 380 appearances for Northampton and a stint as coach in the 1980s confirmed his status as a club legend.
