Having made his debut in the 1959 clash against England, you’d be forgiven for thinking David Rollo’s match would have been ended after suffering a broken nose.
But the Scot soldiered on, as he always did, and his work ethic was enough to earn him a nod for the 1962 Lions Tour to South Africa.
The presence of Syd Millar made it difficult for the prop to break into the Test team, but he was selected for 13 games on the Tour, with his ability to play on both sides of the scrum highly sought-after, as was his versatility as a whole.
Rollo went on to enjoy a nine-year career with Scotland, amassing 40 caps in the process.
