In 1904 Denys Dobson was selected for the Lions team that toured Australia and New Zealand.
Forward Dobson played in all four Test matches, three wins over Australia and a loss to New Zealand, as well 11 further matches.
In total the Lions won 16 of 19 matches on this tour, with Dobson helping himself to a try in the opening victory against New South Wales as well as in a 14-8 success over an Otago-Southland Combined outfit.
Dobson is also notable for being the first player from a British touring rugby team to be dismissed from the playing field, when he was sent off in a match against the Northern District in Newcastle, New South Wales.
